  • LARRY STEPHENS, Director of the Museum, is a reference librarian at Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Georgia. A life-long history buff, he taught high school Social Studies for several years in the Atlanta area before making the switch to librarianship. A former Civil War re-enactor, he has also self-published a number of books on Confederate troops operating in Georgia and East Alabama. His most recent work, “Bound for Glory,” documents the story of his Confederate ancestors in the 30th Alabama Infantry Regiment. Larry’s great-grandfather, John Shaw, was once a resident of Cleburne County, and many of his Stephens ancestors lived in nearby Randolph County
